AUSTIN, Texas – With three personal bests in as many attempts, sophomore Jaden Purnell punched his ticket to the NCAA National Championships, Saturday at the NCAA West Preliminary Meet. Purnell's bid means that ORU has had either an indoor or outdoor NCAA National Championship qualifier every year since 1997.

News & Notes
- Purnell topped the 50-foot mark in all three attempts, but saved his best for last as the sophomore got out 15.80m (51-10) to claim the 12th and final spot.

- ORU had a total of four athletes compete in the NCAA West Preliminary Rounds, including Omeiza Akerele who earned a spot in two events. All five Golden Eagle performances finished inside the top 30 in the region, and all but one competitor (D'Khari Hicks) will return next season.

- 1996 was the last time ORU did not have an NCAA Championship qualifier, Coach Joe Dial's third season as the leader.

- ORU has had an All-American in each of the last 14 years as Purnell attempts to make it 15 straight years.
