Purnell Earns Summit League Athlete of the Week Honors

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –Oral Roberts senior Jaden Purnell and South Dakota sophomore Landon Kemp secured this week's outdoor track and field athlete of the week honors. This is the first weekly award of the season for both Purnell and Kemp.

Purnell won both the long jump and the triple jump at the John McDonnell Invitational this past weekend and collected his 16th career victory between the two events. His mark in the triple jump ranks 37th in the nation this season. 

Kemp became the fifth Coyote in program history to vault past 14 feet after vaulting a personal best 14-1.25 to win the Sioux City Relays. South Dakota boasts the No. 2 vault squad in the country behind Arkansas after Kemp closed the gap this past weekend by moving ahead of Arkansas' third and fourth vaulters in the national standings.

· Swept the long jump (22-9.75, 6.95m) and the triple jump (50-6.75, 15.41m) at the John McDonnell Invitational

· Earned his first two wins of the season and 15th/16th wins in the long/triple jump in his career

· Ranks 37th in the nation in the triple jump

Sophomore | Pole Vault

·  Vaulted a personal best 14-1.25 (4.30m) to win the Sioux City Relays

·  Ranks third in the Summit League behind her two teammates and 13th in the nation

·  Moved to fifth in USD history
