Razorbacks Grind to 65-50 win over Golden Eagles

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team fell on the road Thursday night, 65-50, to the University of Arkansas in non-conference action.

The Golden Eagles have now lost five straight as they close out a five game road swing Saturday at Missouri State. Arkansas snapped a six game skid of its own on Thursday and won their 14th consecutive game against ORU in the all-time series.

Kaylan Mayberry led ORU with 17 points on 3-of-5 shooting from behind the three-point line. Maria Martianez added nine points and four boards in the loss.

The Razorbacks were led by Alecia Cooley who tallied 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. Jessica Jackson also finished with 17 points for Arkansas.

TURNING POINT
ORU cut the Arkansas lead to 11 points at the end of the third quarter, however Arkansas responded with a 10-3 run to take an 18 point lead with 3:53 left in the game. The Razorbacks never looked back as they finished with a 65-50 win.

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Kaylan Mayberry led ORU in scoring with 17 points making three three-pointers.
Arkansas: Alecia Cooley led all players with 19 points on 8-of-10 shooting from the field. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- ORU was out rebounded 46-21 in the loss and the seventh time the Golden Eagles have lost the rebounding battle this season.
- The Golden Eagles shot below 40 percent from the field for the fourth consecutive game. ORU shot 39.6 percent from the field.
- ORU made just seven trips to the free throw line as they had single digit attempts for the second time this season. The Golden Eagles finished the game 3-of-7 from the line while Arkansas was 14-of-19 at the stripe.
- Kaylan Mayberry scored a season-high 17 points in the loss and it was her second consecutive games scoring in double figures. 

UP NEXT
ORU finishes its five game road swing Saturday at Missouri State. Tipoff from JQH Arena in Springfield is set for 7 p.m. as the game will also be televised nationally on ESPN3 and the Watch ESPN app.
