VERMILLION, S.D. – The South Dakota women's basketball team led Oral Roberts from start to finish taking a 71-48 win Saturday afternoon in Summit League action.
The Golden Eagles never led for a second consecutive game as they were unable to overcome a poor shooting performance. ORU shot 34 percent from the field while South Dakota shot 45 percent.
The Coyotes were led by 17 points from Nicole Seekamp who also added five assists and three boards.
ORU pulled within eight points with 6:48 left in the third quarter; however USD answered with a 13-2 run. The Coyotes pushed their lead to 19 at the end of the quarter and led by as many as 28 before finishing with a 71-48 victory.
Oral Roberts: Maria Martianez led ORU with 14 points and five rebounds.
South Dakota: Nicole Seekamp led all scorers with 17 points and five assists.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- ORU was out rebounded 38-32 for just the second time in the last seven games.
- The Golden Eagles finished with a season-high nine blocks in the game.
- Maria Martianez led ORU in scoring for just the second time this season tying a season-high 14 points.
- South Dakota scored 18 points off turnovers while ORU scored seven points off turnovers.
The Golden Eagles close a four game road swing Wednesday night heading east to IPFW. Tipoff at the Gates Sports Center is scheduled for 6 p.m. (CST).
