IPFW Holds Off ORU 54-48 Wednesday Night

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker, 54-48, Thursday night at IPFW to close out a four-game road trip.

The Golden Eagles dropped their third straight as they shot just 1-of-11 from behind the three-point line and turned the ball over 17 times while IPFW was 7-of-19 from distance.

The Mastodons led for 34 minutes despite shooting just 28 percent from the field, but long range shooting and late free throws propelled IPFW in the end.

Faith Ihim finished with 12 points leading ORU and also added nine rebounds in the loss. Ihim also made the only three-pointer for the Golden Eagles as she narrowly missed her fourth double-double of the year.

IPFW was led by Kamilah Carter who scored a game-high 23 points and added three steals and five boards.

TURNING POINT
ORU took the lead on an Esther Udoumoh jumper in the lane with 6:03 left in the game. However, IPFW started a 6-0 run taking a 49-45 lead with 2:47 left. The Mastodons would also go 3-of-3 from the free throw line in the final 30 seconds to seal the win. 

THE LEADERS
Oral Roberts: Faith Ihim scored 12 points and added nine boards.
IPFW: Kamilah Carter finished with a game-high 23 points and added three steals and five rebounds. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- ORU shot a season low 9 percent from behind the three-point line on 1-of-11 shooting, while IPFW is just one of two teams to shoot above 35 percent against ORU this season. South Dakota State shot 40 percent on Jan. 27 and IPFW shot 46 percent on Jan. 16 in Tulsa.
- The Golden Eagles shot 56 percent from the free throw, its lowest mark since shooting 54 percent against Omaha on Jan. 21.
- ORU posted six blocks – the second highest mark this season – against IPFW. The Golden Eagles have 15 blocks in their last two games.
- Faith Ihim led ORU in scoring for the first time since Feb. 7 in an overtime win at Denver. 

UP NEXT
The Golden Eagles return home Saturday to close out the regular season against Western Illinois. Tip off from the Mabee Center is set for 2 p.m.
