TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts women's basketball team and Head Coach Misti Cussen announced that Jentry Holt has joined the Golden Eagles for the spring semester as a graduate transfer from Oklahoma State University.
Although Holt is immediately eligible to compete, she will sit out the remainder of the 2018-19 season and will have a full year of eligibility for the 2019-20 season.
A 6-foot-3 forward from Elgin, Oklahoma, Holt looks to make an immediate impact in the post position for the Golden Eagles during the 2019-20 season. In her time at Oklahoma State, she competed in two NCAA Tournaments and one Women's National Invitation Tournament (WNIT). She played in 89 games making four starts, averaged 9.2 minutes per game along with 2.5 points with a 43 percent shooting average in her three seasons in Stillwater. In her junior season, she was a first-team Academic All-Big 12 selection and appeared in 29 games. The biggest game of her career at OSU was a double-double performance with 16 points and 12 rebounds at Oklahoma on January 22, 2017.
"We've known Jentry for a long time since her high school days in Elgin and we are so pleased to have her choose ORU to finish her collegiate career and to earn her graduate degree," Cussen said. "She will be a strong addition to our team as well as a great fit with our league's style of play. I have high expectations for the impact she will make in her final season of basketball."
Holt is a graduate from Elgin High School in Elgin, Oklahoma. She was named an Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association all-state selection as a senior, averaged 18 points and 12.7 rebounds along with 6.7 assists per game. She helped her team to the Class 4A state title in 2012 and was rated by ESPN HoopGurlz as one of the top 20 players in the nation at her position. For four seasons in high school, she was a multisport athlete competing in basketball, soccer, track and volleyball.
She is the daughter of Gary and LaRhonda Holt and received her undergraduate degree in Sports Media from Oklahoma State University in December 2018. At ORU, Holt will be working towards her master's in business administration with an emphasis in leadership. Her favorite pro team is the Oklahoma City Thunder and her favorite player is Larry Bird.
