TULSA, Okla. – After finishing the regular season tied for third the Oral Roberts women's basketball team will open quarterfinal play of the Summit League Championship Sunday, March 10 as the No. 4 seed and will face No. 5 Western Illinois at 12 p.m. inside the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

  • Western Illinois finished the regular season 12-17 overall and 8-8 in league play. The Leathernecks claimed the fifth seed in the tournament and is currently on a four game losing skid.
  • The Leathernecks are coming off a 100-62 road loss to South Dakota State, on March 2.
  • Western Illinois had three Leathernecks earn postseason accolades. Taylor Higginbotham and Olivia Kaufmann were named to the All-Summit League Second Team. Freshman Danni Nichols was named Freshman of the Year and All-Summit League Honorable Mention.

  • ORU will face Western Illinois for the 48th all-time meeting between the two programs and the third time this season.

  • Sophomore, Keni Jo Lippe, averages 13.6 points per game and is currently third in the Summit League in overall free throws made and is 37th in the nation. Lippe earned her first career player of the week honor for her efforts in week 12.
  • As a whole, ORU is sixth in the nation in overall three-point field goals made.
  • Head Coach Misti Cussen is in her seventh season at the helm for the Golden Eagles and holds a 108-105 overall head coaching record.
  • ORU was picked to finish fourth in The Summit League according to the preseason poll. The Golden Eagles finished the season tied for third with Denver. Due to tiebreaker procedures ORU drew the No. 4 seed in the tournament seeding selection.
