VERMILLION, S.D. - The Oral Roberts women's soccer team picked up its first Summit League victory of the season Friday afternoon as the team shutout South Dakota 1-0 at the USD Soccer Complex.

A defensive battle throughout the match, both ORU and South Dakota went scoreless in the first half of play. The Golden Eagles nearly had a goal nine minutes into action, but that play was called off due to one of the team's offsides of the day.

Ashley Martin would play hero for the Golden Eagles though early in the second half. The Tulsa, Okla. native nailed a penalty kick past USD's Samantha Hardin and it would be enough for the Oral Roberts to hang on for the win.

The win marks the third shutout of the season for the team and the first since the Aug. 30 when the team held SIUE scoreless in Tulsa.

Maddie Rhodes and Ryliegh Bohnenstiehl combined for the clean sheet in goal for ORU. Rhodes started the match and made one save in 45 minutes of action while Bohnenstiehl made three saves in the final period.
