FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team shut out IPFW, 1-0, Sunday afternoon in Fort Wayne, Ind. for the team's second win in three days.

Junior Brittney Lawrence scored the go-ahead goal in the 64th minute off a deflection in the box. It marked the sixth goal of the season for Lawrence, tying her with Kayla Keller for the team lead. Caitlyn Hanslovan also moves to the top of the squad after her assist which was the third of the season.

The ORU defense played one of its most complete matches of the season against IPFW (4-10-2, 2-2-1 SL). The team did not allow a Mastodon shot until the 36th minute of the first half. On the day, the Golden Eagles outshot IPFW, 19-4.

The shutout was the team's fourth of the season and the second time ORU has shut out an opponent on the road.

"It was another tremendous team effort. The depth of the team was challenged in an unprecedented way, and several players rose to the occasion," said head coach Roger Bush. "A lot of credit goes to the resiliency of our opponent today. They are near the top of the league table for a reason, and a lot of it is a credit to their work ethic."

With a weekend sweep under their belts, the Golden Eagles (7-7-2, 3-2-0 SL) moved to third place in The Summit League standings with three home matches remaining on the schedule. The team will host second-place South Dakota State Thursday in Tulsa.

"To get six points on the road, and from two quality opponents, is obviously massive in the larger picture. However, the goal has not been achieved, and our senior captains will get us focused on the next task at hand," Bush continued. "There is work to do and South Dakota State is on the horizon. They are a perennial league contender, and one of the better programs in the nation. I'm confident our kids will be focused."
