BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer teams' season came to a close Thursday afternoon in Brookings, S.D. as the Golden Eagles fell to South Dakota State, 3-1, at Fishbank Soccer Park.

"The girls fought hard today," said head coach Roger Bush. "We didn't bring our best performance but a huge credit to South Dakota State. They are a great team and program and it was a tall order to get something out of the game on their home ground."

On a chilly 40 degree day in South Dakota, the Jackrabbits offense was hot for much of the contest, putting up 15 shots against the ORU defense. .

Both teams held strong for most of the opening half, controlling the pace of play. SDSU would get on the board though in the 42nd when Delaney Ratcliffe ripped a shot from 25-yards out past the outstretch arms of ORU keeper Maddie Rhodes for the lead heading into the locker room.

The Jackrabbits would continue its attack in the opening minutes of the second half as Brittany Jenson scored on two fast break attempts within three minutes of each other to push the South Dakota State to a commanding 3-0 lead.

The Golden Eagles would continue to fight until the end. Caitlyn Hanslovan picked up her fourth goal of the season off a corner kick in the 85th minute. Ashley Martin would pick up the assist on the play.

"I'm grateful for the leadership of our senior captains," Bush continued. "It's been an honor to be a part of the journey of all of our seniors.  They've left a tremendous legacy.  One that motivates and inspires each of us to work, do, and give."

"We now must move forward. There is work to do to make certain that all of the previous break-throughs this season and over the seniors' careers are stepping stones.  They have created a culture of excellence, work and family. They have achieved new marks for the program, accepted new challenges, and proclaimed we should elevate our standards. I am confident our underclassmen and staff will follow their lead."
