TULSA, Okla. -- Oral Roberts women's soccer Head Coach Roger Bush announced the team's upcoming schedule for the 2018 campaign on Wednesday. The schedule features nine matches at home and 11 on the road.
"We are excited about the 2018 season," Head Coach Roger Bush said. "Coach Wes Branstetter has worked hard putting together a great schedule for our kids. It's a competitive nonconference schedule featuring a handful of NCAA Tournament teams once again. The Summit League schedule which ends with three consecutive road games at perennial league contenders."
"We believe that each opponent will provide an opportunity for us to become something more than we were before the competition. We are grateful for the challenge each opponent on the 2018 schedule will present and I'm confidence our players are eager for the opportunity."
ORU will begin the season away from the Case Soccer Complex with an opening tournament in Edinburg, Texas, hosted by UTRGV. The Golden Eagles will open the 2018 season against Portland State, Aug. 17, followed by UTRGV, Aug. 19. ORU will then play its next four games at home beginning with UTSA, Aug. 24 and Lamar Aug. 26. Sam Houston State and Arkansas State will be in town, Aug. 31, and Sept. 2.
The Golden Eagles will play four of their nine games in September on the road. ORU will have a four-game road stretch beginning Sept. 5 at Central Arkansas, followed by Saint Louis, Sept. 7, and Southeast Missouri, Sept. 9. The road stretch will conclude with the annual matchup against in-town rival Tulsa, Sept. 14.The Golden Eagles return home to face Missouri State, Sept. 16, before flying to Florida for a Sept. 20 date at Florida Atlantic to round out nonconference play.
ORU opens Summit League action against Omaha, Sept. 27, inside the friendly confines of the Case Soccer Complex. The newest member to the league, North Dakota, will make a trip to South Tulsa, Sept. 30. The Golden Eagles hit the road for their first league road match at South Dakota, Oct. 4. Fort Wayne will visit ORU, Oct. 7, and Western Illinois comes to town for senior day, Oct. 14. ORU will finish the regular season with three road games starting Oct. 19 at North Dakota State. The Golden Eagles face South Dakota State, Oct. 21, in Brookings, South Dakota, before finishing the regular season at Denver, Oct. 27.
The top four teams will advance to the Summit League tournament, Nov. 1-3, in Brookings, South Dakota, for a chance at the Summit League's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
