DENVER. – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team closed out the 2018 regular season with a 3-0 loss at Denver Saturday afternoon in Denver, Colorado.

The Golden Eagles concluded a three-game stretch on the road against the Summit League's top-3 league contenders in Denver today.  After narrow losses to South Dakota State, 1-0, and North Dakota State, 1-0 in overtime, last week on the road, the team returned to the field today in Denver to take on the Pioneers who are tied with South Dakota State atop the Summit League. The Pioneers are a familiar foe as they knocked ORU out of the league semifinals last year by a score line of 1-0.

The team was once again without services of several regulars in the line-up as injuries have been a hallmark of the 2018 season.  Today marked the 17th uniquely new and different starting lineup for the Golden Eagles on the season. Headed into today's contest, the Golden Eagles had positioned themselves still in the hunt for one of the four conference postseason spots available in the nine team league.

Denver scored two goals in the first half, with the first occurring in the 15th minute of play by Leah Swander and the second in the 29th minute by Samantha Feller. In the second half, the Pioneers took a 3-0 lead in the 74th minute with a goal by Hannah Adler.

Head Coach Quote
"Our kids have been outstanding all season," Head Coach Roger Bush said.  They shrug off what I believe most would consider adversity, and continue to relate to and with each other inside a spirit that is unique to their personality as a team.  Their testimony this season has been powerful."
