BEAUMONT, Texas – The Oral Roberts women's soccer team fell short to the Lamar Cardinals, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at the Lamar Soccer Complex.
The Golden Eagles came out of the first whistle a step behind the Cardinals as Lamar took an early 1-0 lead within the first four minutes of play.
After finding its rhythm, Oral Roberts countered back with multiple attacks despite being unlucky in finding the back of the net. Within a 10-minute span the Golden Eagles outshot the Cardinals 4-0, while hitting the frame on two attempts.
The ORU defense held its own for most of the first half in not allowing a shot attempt for nearly 20-minutes before heading into the half down 1-0.
Pillay would not be denied, the junior forward broke through the Cardinals defense and blasted a shot past the keeper for the equalizer in the 76th minute.
In the 85th minute, Lamar took advantage of a miscue by the Golden Eagles defense that led to Cardinal forward Esther Okoronkwo netting the game winner as Oral Roberts University fell to Lamar University 2-1.

- Drishana Pillay recorded her fourth goal of the season, a team leading mark.

The Golden Eagles travel back to Tulsa for a six-game homestand that begins with matchups against Chicago State (Sept. 20) and Kansas City (Sept. 22).
