Oral Roberts Hosts Chicago State to Begin Six Game Home Stand

TULSA, Okla. – The Golden Eagles will take on the Cougars on Friday, Sept. 19, at the Case Soccer Complex. It is the first match of a six game home stand for the women's soccer team.

SCOUTING THE COUGARS
Cristiano Costa leads is in his second season leading the Cougars, tallying an 0-8-0 record in 2019. After finishing 2018 with a 0-16-1 overall record, the Cougars were picked to finish last in the nine team Western Athletic Conference. Barbara Castellano leads the Cougars offense in shots (ten), points (four) and goals (two). Oral Roberts will be the fourth Summit League team that Chicago State has faced in 2019, the Cougars conceded losses to Purdue-Fort Wayne (1-0), North Dakota (6-0) and North Dakota State (2-0).

 

All-Time Series vs. Chicago State
This will be the first matchup between the Golden Eagles and Cougars. In 2019, ORU is 1-0 when facing an opponent for the first time in its history with a victory over Grambling State (5-0) on Sept. 8.

 

LAST TIME OUT
Oral Roberts dropped a heartbreaker to Lamar University on Sept. 15, 2-1. Drishana Pillay scored the lone goal for the Eagles in the 76th minute, Pillay also led the eagles with three shots on goal in six attempts. Along with keeper Allison Austin, defenders Nicole Gornell and Gabrielle Abbey each played the full 90 minutes.

 

ALL-TIME WATCH LIST
Senior forward Jordan Langebartels is three goals away from breaking into the ORU all-time top-10 list. The Tulsa native currently has 15 career goals in 53 games played, former Golden Eagle Ashley Aldrich (1996-99) is No. 10 on the all-time list with 18 career goals.

 

HOME FOR AWHILE
The Golden Eagles begin a six game home stand that will feature three non-conference matchups, followed by three conference matchups. ORU will take on Chicago State (Sept. 20), Kansas City (Sept. 22) and Florida Atlantic (Sept. 26) to round out the non-conference season. The Golden Eagles then start league play hosting the preseason top-three favorites beginning with Denver (Oct. 6), South Dakota State (Oct. 10) and North Dakota State (Oct. 13).

 

MISTER ROGER'S NEIGHBORHOOD
Head Coach Roger Bush is back for his seventh season leading the Golden Eagles, after six seasons Bush has a 58-57-10 record at ORU. Student-athletes under Bush have earned 26 all-conference honors, 13 player of the week awards and two have earned CoSIDA Academic All-America honors. Bush was named the 2016 Summit League Women's Coach of the Year.

 

SUMMIT LEAGUE OUTLOOK
A year after finishing 3-5-0 in league play, the Golden Eagles were picked to finish seventh in the 2019 Summit League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Senior midfielder Jordan Langenbartels was one of 13 athletes named to the The Summit League Players to Watch List, Langenbartels led the Golden Eagles with career-highs in goals (7) and points (18) despite only appearing in 15 of 20 matches.
