Golden Eagles Earn 5-2 win over Leathernecks

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Oral Roberts University women's tennis team snapped a two match skid Monday knocking off Western Illinois, 5-2, in Summit League action.

The Golden Eagles evened their Summit League record to 2-2 and improved to 6-8 on the season with a decisive win in downtown Kansas City. ORU took an early lead after winning doubles before closing out the victory in singles play.

Match Recap
- Marizanne Bouwer won her fourth straight match in singles with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 3 singles. Bouwer stayed perfect at 4-0 on the year at No. 3 singles and 6-4 overall.
- Ximena Puentes won her second straight match with a decisive 6-0-, 6-1 victory over Andriana Johnson at No. 5 singles. Puentes is 7-5 on the year and 2-1 at the No. 5 position in the lineup.
- Bouwer teamed with Petya Simeonova for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles. The duo snapped a four match skid at the No. 1 position for their first doubles win of the season.
- Simeonova also claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles over Jenna Wallace. She evened her season record I singles to 6-6 overall and 5-2 at the No. 2 position.

ORU returns to Tulsa to take on Arkansas on Wednesday in a match added to both teams schedule over the weekend. The Golden Eagles and Razorbacks will face off at Bixby High School at 6 p.m.
