ORU Ends Season with 4-0 loss in Quarterfinals

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Oral Roberts women's tennis team saw their season come to an end Friday evening with a 4-0 loss to South Dakota State in the Summit League Championships.

ORU ends the season at 7-12 while South Dakota State improves to 13-7 and advances to the Summit League Semifinals to take on host and No. 2 seed IPFW on Saturday.

The Jackrabbits took No. 1 and No. 3 doubles before the bottom of the lineup finished the shutout for SDSU.

Match Recap
- Ximena Puentes pushed Beatriz Souza before falling at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-2. Puentes finishes the season in singles at 9-9.
- The deciding point for SDSU came at No. 4 singles as Brenda Mercado fell to Tacy Haws-Lay, 6-1, 6-4. Mercado fell to 5-13 in singles play this season.
- Petya Simeonova and Marizanne Bouwer went back and forth with Iasmin Rosa and Ffion Davies before the Jackrabbits won 8-3 to clinch the doubles point
- SDSU picked up its first singles point at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win from Elif Gabb over the Golden Eagles' Nika Munoz.
