Event: ORU Fall Invitational

TULSA, Okla. - The Oral Roberts University women's tennis team hosted the ORU Fall Invitational over the weekend, carding seven individual top-5 finishes as the faced Central Arkansas, Oklahoma Baptist and Seminole State College.
In the No. 1 flight, Haley Martin entered as the second seed and finished third after falling to Kelsey Williams of UCA in the semifinals. Martin bested Ana Ojeda of Seminole State 6-0, 6-2 in the first round and won the third place match 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 to earn the bronze.
Flight 2 was full of ORU wins, with Marizanne Bouwer winning the championship, taking straight set victories in each of her three matches. Petya Simenova won 6-2, 6-3 in the first round, and beat Allison Murphey of UCA 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals before falling to her teammate in the championship. Andrada Gordan battled back from a first round loss to take fifth. She topped OBU's Olivia Charvat in the fifth place match, 4-6, 6-0, 6-0.
ORU took second, third and fourth in the third flight of the tournament. Ximena Puentes rolled through the first two rounds winning 6-1, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 but fell in three sets to Amanda Alvarez of UCA in the championship match. Brenda Mercado Jove and Nika Munoz battled for third place, with Mercao Jove winning 6-2, 6-3 over her teammate.
In doubles action, Bouwer and Martin paired up to win 8-0, 8-1 in the first two matches but fell 8-4 in the finals to earn second place. Gordan/Mercado Jove earned fifth in doubles play and Puentes/Simenova took ninth.
ORU will travel to the ITA Regionals, hosted by Oklahoma State in Stillwater beginning Thursday, October 16.
