TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts University volleyball team has released its 2015 schedule that includes trips to Mississippi, Las Vegas, Springfield, Mo., and 10 home games on the ORU campus.
"We have put together another challenging schedule for this season," said head coach Sheera Sirola, who enters her 14th year at the helm. "This year's schedule will be a good mix of familiar opponents and some new teams in our early season tournaments to prepare us for The Summit League."
The Golden Eagles will open the 2015 campaign at the Ole' Miss Tournament in Oxford, Mississippi. Although the tournament field has not yet been released, ORU will open the season against the Rebels on Friday, August 28, before a pair of games to close out the tournament on Saturday.
Once again the Golden Eagles will head east on I-44 to participate in the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational hosted by Missouri State for the second consecutive year. The tournament will open with ORU and the Lady Bears September 4 before the Golden Eagles face off with Miami and Marquette. It will be just the second ever meeting between ORU and the Hurricanes and the first ever with Marquette.
ORU will continue their road tournament schedule as they head west to the UNLV Invitational in Las Vegas. Tournament action for the Golden Eagles will start Friday, September 11 against Portland State followed by matches against host UNLV and Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday.
The first home action of the season will see ORU host Texas-Arlington on Wednesday, September 16 inside the Aerobics Center at 7 p.m.
The Golden Eagles will continue their first weekend in Tulsa on Friday, September 18 as cross-town rival Tulsa enters the Aerobics Center. ORU will head to the north side of town the next day for matches against North Texas and Houston Baptist as part of the Golden Hurricane Invitational at the Reynolds Center.
Summit League action will begin on Friday, September 25 as ORU makes its first trek north to play North Dakota State followed by a Saturday night match at South Dakota State.
ORU will host its first home Summit League match to start October as IUPUI heads to the Aerobics Center followed by a Sunday matinee against IPFW with Omaha coming to Tulsa on September 9.
With just three Summit League road matches in October fans will also be able to see Western Illinois on Oct. 18, South Dakota on Oct. 23 and South Dakota State on Oct. 25. ORU will head to South Dakota on Oct. 11 and defending league champion Denver on Oct. 16 before closing out the month at IPFW on Oct. 30.
The Golden Eagles will travel to IUPUI on Nov. 1 followed by a Sunday game on Nov. 8 at Western Illinois and a midweek contest at Omaha on Nov. 10.
The Summit League regular season will come to a close at Tulsa as the Golden Eagles host Denver November 13 and North Dakota State November 15.
The Summit League postseason tournament will start Friday, November 20 as last year's Summit League Champion, Denver, will serve as the championship host. The top five teams in the league will fight for a chance to earn The Summit League's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
