TULSA, Okla. – Oral Roberts University head coach Sheera Sirola has announced the addition of Frank Craig as a graduate assistant coach for the upcoming 2015 season. Craig comes to ORU from Lourdes University in Sylvania, Ohio, where he was an All-America selection.
Craig was named the Great Lakes Conference Player of the Year at Lourdes as he also earned all-conference honors all four seasons with the Gray Wolves. He played two seasons under current ORU assistant coach Mike Froehlich who served as an assistant coach at Lourdes. At ORU, Craig will work with the attackers and middle for the Golden Eagles.
He led Lourdes with 407 kills as a senior and averaged 4.07 kills per set, ranking as the third best mark in the nation. One of only two players to play in all 100 sets for the Gray Wolves, Craig also finished the year with 77 blocks and 83 digs on the defensive side of the net.
"We are excited to add Frank to our coaching staff here at ORU," said Sirola. "He demonstrated great leadership in his time at Lourdes, and I think he'll be a great asset for staff and program."
Craig joined Lourdes in 2012, the inaugural season for the Gray Wolves men's volleyball team, helping them finish 16-10 during his freshman season. The Gray Wolves improved each season including the first 20-win season in 2015 and a perfect 14-0 record in the Great Lakes Conference to capture the program's first conference championship. Lourdes also reached the NAIA National Tournament in 2014, winning the GLC Tournament and finishing 17-7.
The Golden Eagles return five starters in 2015 after a fourth place finish a year ago in their return to The Summit League. ORU opens play August 28 at Ole Miss and the Magnolia Invitational.
