ORU Jumps on Denver Early, Holds on for Five-Set Win

TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team raced out to a 2-0 set lead before visiting Denver rallied back to even the match and force a fifth set. The home side powered through and closed out its third-consecutive win Tuesday night in front of a boisterous crowd at the Aerobics Center (25-19, 25-23, 21-25, 21-25, 15-10).


The Golden Eagles trailed 7-6 in the fifth set before winning the next three points and never looking back in a decisive 15-10 win in the finale moving to 11-9 overall and 3-3 in conference. ORU saved its best for last hitting .800 when it mattered most down the stretch getting 10 kills to just one error in set five. The Summit League preseason favorite Pioneers saw their three-match win streak snapped as they drop to 12-6 overall and 4-2 in league play.


Inside the Box Score

  • ORU's defense was on point posting its third-most digs in a single match this season (62).
  • For just the second time in 2016, the Golden Eagles had four players reach double figure digs (Lucija Bojanjac-12, Laura Milos-12, Katarina Mikulic-10, Tori Roe-10).
  • Bojanjac tallied her fourth double-double of the season with a team-leading 29 assists and a season-best 12 digs.
  • Milos finished the night with 21 kills, recording her 10th performance with at least 20 kills this year and her team-best seventh double-double.
  • Shelby Cox hit double figures in kills for the 10th time in her last 11 matches with 11.
  • ORU earned its first win of the year when being out-hit by its opposition.
  • Kayla Principato (16) and Nola Basey (11) reached double-digit kills for the Pioneers.
