DENVER, Colo. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye for the 2017 Summit League Championship Nov. 17-19 at Hamilton Gymnasium on the campus of the University of Denver. The Golden Eagles play Saturday night at 7 p.m. (CT) in the semifinals and face the winner of No. 3 South Dakota and No. 6 Fort Wayne, which meet Friday night in the quarterfinals.
•The Golden Eagles closed the regular season with a mark of 11-3 in Summit League play and earned a bye in the opening round of the conference tournament as the No. 2 seed, their highest seed since 2008.
•Laura Milos, the Oct. 3 National Player of the Week by Sports Imports/AVCA and VolleyMob, was named Summit League Player of the Year and ranks fifth in the NCAA with 494 total kills, despite playing more than 13 fewer sets than the leaders, and third at 5.31 kills per set. The senior also is third in the country averaging 0.56 service aces per set and recently became just the 18th player in the NCAA since 2004 to record 2,000 kills and 1,000 digs in a career.
•Sophomore outside hitter CeCe Madison joined Milos on the All-Summit League First Team in 2017 closing the regular season ranked sixth in total kills (267) and fifth in kills per set (3.18). Morgan Blomquist earned a selection to the league's All-Freshman Team posting a team-best 64 total blocks, ranking 11th in the conference.
•Setter Lucija Bojanjac, ORU's all-time assists leader, moved up to eighth in The Summit League's career assists leaders and totaled 516 this season (5.55 per set) and 4,140 in her tenure. Bria Bergman is right with the senior and added 506 assists (5.44 per set) helping the Golden Eagles to second in the conference in assists per set, ranking 47th in the nation at 12.94.
•ORU has posted a 3-7 record all-time against the No. 3 seed South Dakota after splitting the regular season series, as both sides defended their home court. The Golden Eagles are 15-7 in program history when facing Fort Wayne having won each of the last seven meetings, including a 3-0 sweep in last year's tournament quarterfinals.
•The Golden Eagles have recorded a 20-8 mark in the conference tournament all-time winning seven titles, the most recent coming in 2006. ORU has never met South Dakota in The Summit League Championship, but matched the Mastodons three times and won each time, with the last in 2016.
•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last five seasons. They were eliminated in the semifinals by host and top-seed Denver in 2016.
