TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team gets the 2018 campaign started Aug. 24-25 in Laramie, Wyoming, playing three matches during the Rumble in the Rockies hosted by the University of Wyoming. The Golden Eagles open the season at 11 a.m. (CT) Friday against No. 15 Colorado, a team that reached the NCAA Sweet 16 a year ago before facing the host Cowgirls at 8 p.m. (CT). ORU caps the weekend facing the Ospreys of North Florida in the first-ever meeting between the two programs.

Opening Serve

•ORU enters 2018 needing to replace three seniors that capped four-year careers ranked in the top 10 in all-time statistical categories. Laura Milos, 2017 Summit League Player of the Year, tallied more than 2,000 kills and 1,000 digs, while Lucija Bojanjac, now a volunteer assistant coach, is the all-time assists leader (4,215). Shelby Cox finished her career ranked eighth in program history with 232 block assists.

CeCe Madison, an All-Summit League performer in 2017, returns to the court following an injury that sidelined her for the final six matches a year ago. The Midlothian, Texas, native finished her first year with the Golden Eagles totaling 267 kills. She posted seven double-doubles and reached double-figure kills 17 times as a sophomore.

•Senior libero Tori Roe became ORU's 10th player to eclipse 1,000 digs in a career after reaching the mark Oct. 29, 2017. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, she needs just 162 digs to move to fourth on the all-time list and currently ranks fourth in digs per set averaging 3.35 in 88 matches.

•The Golden Eagles also return five players with extended time on the court headlined by setter Bria Bergman, a senior from Tulsa. She registered a career-high 561 assists in 2017. A trio of juniors return and provides depth to the lineup as Bri Greenlee, Katarina Mikulic and Taylan Nero push for a breakout campaign this year. ORU's lone sophomore, Morgan Blomquist, looks to build on a successful opening season where she landed on the conference's all-freshman team after leading the Golden Eagles with 74 total blocks.

•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed two newcomers to the lineup, both freshmen, as setter Sylvia Lawson (Joplin, Missouri) and outside hitter Inka Inkret (Ivanec, Croatia) join the squad for 2018.

•ORU's first home match of the season comes in The Summit League opener against four-time defending conference champion Denver at the Cooper Aerobics Center Sept. 21.

•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last six seasons, including a spot in the 2017 championship match, but were picked to finish fifth in The Summit League preseason poll. ORU made its first postseason appearance since 2006 when it was invited to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship last year.
