TULSA, Okla. – Three matches in less than 24 hours is what awaits the Oral Roberts volleyball team this weekend during the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational at the Hammons Student Center in Springfield, Missouri. The Golden Eagles open the action Friday night against the host Bears of Missouri State at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ before continuing with two contests Saturday facing Ball State at 10 a.m. and the finale against Grambling State at 5 p.m.

•ORU is back on the court following a 1-2 weekend at Wyoming's Rumble in the Rockies to open the 2018 season where it played all three matches at 7,220 feet above sea level.

•The Golden Eagles featured a balanced attack during the first week of action as seven players recorded double-figure kills. ORU also showcased improved play at the net recording 2.27 blocks per set, led by junior Taylan Nero's 13 block assists.

CeCe Madison, an All-Summit League performer in 2017, picked up where she left off last season and led the Golden Eagles' offense at Wyoming. The junior tallied 38 kills (3.45 kills per set), including a career-best 19 in Saturday's win over North Florida, and added 33 digs (3.00 digs per set).

•Senior libero Tori Roe became ORU's 10th player to eclipse 1,000 digs in a career after reaching the mark Oct. 29, 2017. She needs just 128 digs to move to fourth on the all-time list and currently ranks fourth in digs per set averaging 3.35 in 91 matches.

•Senior Bria Bergman took over full-time setter duties for ORU and flourished averaging 9.18 assists per set and set a career high with 51 assists against UNF.

•The three teams ORU faces at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational in Springfield, Missouri, have combined for a 2-7 record, with Ball State the only squad to record wins, coming against South Alabama and Marshall. Missouri State reached the NCAA tournament in 2017 after winning the Missouri Valley Conference, while the Cardinals also finish tops in their division during the MAC regular season.

•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed two newcomers to the lineup, both freshmen, as setter Sylvia Lawson (Joplin, Missouri) and outside hitter Inka Inkret (Ivanec, Croatia) join the squad for 2018. Inkret quickly became a go-to option with a team-high five kills at Wyoming and added 14 kills in a win against the Ospreys.

•ORU's first home match of the season comes in The Summit League opener against four-time defending conference champion Denver at the Cooper Aerobics Center Sept. 21.

•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last six seasons, including a spot in the 2017 championship match. ORU made its first postseason appearance since 2006 when it was invited to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship last year.
