TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team does not have to travel far for its weekend tournament playing across town in the Tulsa Volleyball Invitational Sept. 7-8 at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. The Golden Eagles face a pair of former Southland Conference foes Northwestern State (Friday, 4:30 p.m.) and Abilene Christian (Saturday, 1:30 p.m.) before facing Tulsa in the finale (Saturday, 7:30 p.m.).

•For the second straight tournament, ORU dropped its opening two matches before bouncing back for a victory in the weekend's finale, this time a sweep of Grambling State.

•The Golden Eagles continue to feature a balanced attack as five players have 30 or more kills, led by junior CeCe Madison's 57.

•ORU also has showcased improved play at the net in 2018 recording 2.24 blocks per set. Junior Taylan Nero (1.05) and sophomore Morgan Blomquist (1.00) rank in the top five in The Summit League averaging at least one block per set.

•Senior libero Tori Roe became ORU's 10th player to eclipse 1,000 digs in a career last season and currently ranks fourth in the conference averaging 4.24 digs per set. Roe landed on the All-Tournament Team at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational after recording 54 digs in three matches, aided by a career-best 28 against Ball State. She needs just 74 digs to move to fourth on the all-time list in ORU history as she sits at 1,162 in 94 matches.

Bria Bergman has flourished as the starting setter averaging 9.57 assists per set through six matches, ranking sixth in the league. The senior set a career high with 51 assists against North Florida earning All-Tournament Team honors at Wyoming.

•The Golden Eagles have met the cross-town rival Golden Hurricane on the court more than any other opponent playing 82 times in program history and battle with two former Southland Conference opponents this weekend. ORU faces a pair of teams with a 4-2 record (Northwestern State and Tulsa), while matching up against a 2-6 Abilene Christian squad.

•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed two newcomers to the lineup, both freshmen, as setter Sylvia Lawson (Joplin, Missouri) and outside hitter Inka Inkret (Ivanec, Croatia) join the squad for 2018. Inkret has quickly become a go-to option leading the team in kills twice, coming at Wyoming (5) and against Ball State (13).

•ORU's first home match of the season comes in The Summit League opener against four-time defending conference champion Denver at the Cooper Aerobics Center Sept. 21.

•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last six seasons, including a spot in the 2017 championship match. ORU made its first postseason appearance since 2006 when it was invited to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship last year.
