Mikulic, Bergman Double-Doubles Help ORU Topple Demons

TULSA, Okla. – Katarina Mikulic and Bria Bergman each posted a double-double helping the Oral Roberts volleyball team to a four-set victory over Northwestern State (20-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-19) Friday evening at the Reynolds Center.


A strong effort down the stretch closed out the win for the Golden Eagles after dropping the opening set in the first match of the Tulsa Volleyball Invitational. Bergman recorded her double-double before the conclusion of the second set as ORU fought for every point.


ORU pushed to a commanding 10-2 advantage in the pivotal third set, taking advantage of a big presence at the net, and never slowed down securing the victory in four sets.


Inside the Box Score

  • Bria Bergman tallied a career-best 15 digs on her way to her third collegiate double-double. The senior added 35 set assists playing in her hometown for the first time this season.
  • Katarina Mikulic led the Golden Eagles offensively with 13 kills and added 15 digs for her first-ever double-double.
  • Tori Roe finished the evening with 19 digs and moved into seventh place on the all-time digs list for ORU (1,181) passing Debora dos Santos (1995-98).
  • Taylan Nero controlled the net for ORU totaling a career-high 10 kills, a solo block and four block assists, while Bri Greenlee added seven kills and four block assists.
  • Sarah Thiessen reached double-figure digs for the first time in her young tenure adding 12 as ORU finished tied with NSU totaling 73 team digs.
