TULSA, Okla. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team travels to Grand Forks, North Dakota, for its first road match of Summit League action taking on conference newcomer North Dakota Friday night at 7 p.m.
•ORU continues Summit League action with one match this week heading to conference newcomer North Dakota Friday night. It will be the first-ever meeting between the Golden Eagles and the Fighting Hawks, who have reached the NCAA Tournament each of the last three seasons by way of winning the Big Sky Conference.
•Libero Tori Roe currently ranks 26th in NCAA Division I totaling a league-best 277 digs reaching 20 or more in a match seven times this season. The senior earned All-Tournament Team honors in two of four non-conference events and ranks second in the conference averaging 4.86 digs per set. She currently ranks fourth in ORU history with 1,350 digs after becoming the program's 10th player to eclipse 1,000 digs last season.
•Five hitters have posted 80 or more kills in 2018 with Lara Picht leading ORU behind 121 kills. CeCe Madison used a career-high 23 kills Sunday against South Dakota to increase her team-leading kills per set average to 3.00, ranking seventh in the league.
•Bria Bergman has averaged 9.14 assists per set, ranking sixth in the league, but is the top attacking setter with 61 kills. The senior set a career high with 51 assists against North Florida and was named to the All-Tournament Team in two of four events thanks to a team-best, seven double-doubles this year.
•ORU has showcased consistent play at the net in 2018 recording 1.91 blocks per set. Sophomore Morgan Blomquist (0.95) ranks 10th in The Summit League in blocks per set, while junior Taylan Nero's 0.85 is 11th.
•North Dakota won in five sets over in-state rival North Dakota State Wednesday after splitting its first weekend of competition in The Summit League. The Fighting Hawks picked up a five-set victory on the road at Western Illinois last Friday before a road loss at Purdue Fort Wayne Sunday. Kayla Williams' 3.32 kills per set leads the offense, while Taliyah Flores has a team-best 4.50 digs per set average for the UND defense.
•Head Coach Sheera Sirola, ORU's all-time winningest coach, welcomed two newcomers to the lineup, both freshmen, as setter Sylvia Lawson (Joplin, Missouri) and outside hitter Inka Inkret (Ivanec, Croatia) joined the squad for 2018. Inkret become a go-to option offensively leading the team in kills twice, coming at Wyoming (5) and against Ball State (13).
•The Golden Eagles have reached the conference tournament each of the last six seasons, including a spot in the 2017 championship match. ORU made its first postseason appearance since 2006 when it was invited to the National Invitational Volleyball Championship last year.
