MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team closed the non-conference season with a road loss at No. 7 Minnesota (15-25, 9-25, 12-25) Saturday night in front of a capacity crowd inside Maturi Pavilion to finish the 2019 Diet Coke Classic.

 

The Golden Eagles scored the opening point of the match and went toe-to-toe with the national power Golden Gophers in set one. ORU cut the margin down to 16-12 in set one behind one of Bri Greenlee's three kills during the opening stanza, but the home side went on to claim the set.

 

ORU fell behind by a large margin in each of the final two frames and could not recover from the deficit despite continuing to battle in a hostile environment featuring 5,700 fans.

 

Inside the Box Score

  • CeCe Madison was the lone Golden Eagles player to reach double-digit kills posting 10 and added 10 digs for a double-double effort. The senior also led the team with three blocks.
  • Inka Inkret tallied 10 digs and closed the night with five kills.
  • Sylvia Lawson finished with 19 set assists and nine digs.
  • Saturday's contest marked ORU's first match against a top-10 opponent since playing at No. 2 Nebraska in 2008.
