TULSA, Okla. – ORU volleyball Head Coach Sheera Sirola became the all-time winningest coach in Summit League history as the Golden Eagles defeated South Dakota State, 3-1, hitting (25-23, 26-24, 25-16, 25-20) Sunday afternoon at the Aerobics Center.
Sirola won her 246th match as a member of The Summit League passing Steve Payne of IUPUI for all-time winningest coach.
Bri Greenlee led the Golden Eagles with a .480 attack percentage on the day, while Laura Shoopman paced the team with 17 kills. ORU's best attack percentage came in the third set as ORU hit at a .407 clip. The Golden Eagles' largest advantage of the day came in the third set when they led by as many as 10 points.
After falling in the second set, ORU never trailed in either the third or fourth sets to secure the conference victory. The Golden Eagles had another 10-point advantage in the fourth set before putting away the Jackrabbits, 25-20.
Inside the Box Score
- CeCe Madison had 14 kills on the day with 17 digs and one block completing the double-double.
- Greenlee hit .480 with a career-best 13 kills and Shoopman added 17 kills on a .308 hitting percentage. Shoopman finished the afternoon with 11 digs to post a double-double effort.
- Sarah Thiessen led the team with 21 digs and had two service aces in the match.
- Sylvia Lawson had two kills of her own with 11 digs and 41 set assists.
The Golden Eagles hit the road for a trip to the eastern part of The Summit League facing Purdue Fort Wayne Friday night and Western Illinois Sunday afternoon.
