Madison, Thiessen Sweep Weekly Awards for #ORUVB

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Oral Roberts senior outside hitter CeCe Madison and sophomore libero Sarah Thiessen claimed this week's Summit League Volleyball Player of the Week awards after helping the Golden Eagles finish 2-0 on the weekend and notch head coach Sheera Sirola the title of all-time winningest coach in Summit League history. This is the first weekly honor of the season for both Madison and Thiessen.


Madison earned the offensive weekly honor after posting double-doubles in each match. The senior tallied 20 kills in a five-set thriller over Omaha and flourished in the fifth and final set putting away five kills on nine attempts to clinch the victory for ORU. Madison closed the weekend averaging 3.67 kills and 3.56 digs per set while adding seven assists and three service aces.


Thiessen secured the defensive award after posting back-to-back 21-dig efforts. Eleven of her 21 digs against Omaha came during the set two victory that also saw her land three service aces. She tallied her 16th match with double-digit digs, including seven matches with at least 20 digs. Thiessen ended the weekend averaging 4.67 digs per set, 42 total digs, nine set assists and five service aces.
