MACOMB, Ill. – The Oral Roberts volleyball team could not overcome a balanced attack from Western Illinois falling on the road (18-25, 13-25, 21-25) Sunday afternoon from Western Hall.
After falling behind early, the Golden Eagles tied the opening frame with a 6-2 stretch, but it was the home side that went on a 7-2 run before closing out the set, 25-18. The Leathernecks claimed another big run to start set two and it was too much to handle for ORU as it fell behind 2-0.
The Golden Eagles came out of the extended intermission and put pressure on WIU scoring the first four points and built a 6-2 advantage in set three. The Leathernecks fought back and ended up erasing a late margin to secure the victory.
