    The Oral Roberts women's cross country team earned All-Academic status as a team, it was announced Monday by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association.

    ORU had three athletes named first team All-Summit League after superb performances in the 2011 Summit League Cross Country Championships, hosted by the Golden Eagles on Saturday. Kristen Radcliff and Sheilah Ndasym finished second and third, respectively, on the women's side, while Shadrack Koech claimed seventh for the men, putting all three on the first team all-conference teams.

    Oral Roberts University is set to host the 2011 Summit League Cross Country Championships on the ORU campus Saturday, October 29. The men's 8,000m race will kickoff the event at 10 a.m., followed by the women's 6,000m race at 11 a.m.

  • Cross Country Teams Run Well Against Best in the Country at Chile Pepper

    The ORU women's cross country team finished 16th out of 34 teams, while the men's team finished 27th at the 2011 Chile Pepper Festival, Saturday morning. The race, one of the largest cross country meets in the country, presented new challenges to the Golden Eagles as the men and women raced at the 10k and 6k distances, respectively, for the first time this season.

    For the second time in three weeks, the ORU cross country teams will compete in one of the largest meets in America. Two weeks ago it was the OSU Cowboy Jamboree, and this week it will be the Chile Pepper Festival, hosted by the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.

    After leading ORU in every race last year, Sheilah Ndasym led the Golden Eagles again, carding a top-20 finish in the largest cross country meet in the country, the OSU Cowboy Jamboree. Shadrack Koech finished 78th overall for the men, nearing a personal best despite the crowded and tough course on the Oklahoma State campus.

    In a meet that was added in the middle of the week, ORU took on cross-town rival Tulsa on Saturday on the ORU campus. The ORU women's team got the best of the duel, edging TU 27-29 on a two mile course, while the Golden Hurricane men topped ORU 19-38 in a 5k race.
