MACOMB, Ill. -
Western Illinois scored goals in the fifth minute and the
24th minute to take down Oral Roberts University, 2-0,
in Mid-Con Conference action on Saturday afternoon. ORU drops to
2-7-3 and 0-2-2 in conference play.
WIU�€™s Bess Rapp notched her first goal of the
season just 4:18 into the match as that was all the Westerwinds
needed. Misako Inaba and Ashley Hoch were credited with the
assists. Inaba made it 2-0 when she scored on a free kick from
about 20 yards out.
ORU was out shot
8-5 by WIU and both teams had three corner kicks apiece in first
half.
The second half was
scoreless as the Westerwinds out shot the Golden Eagles 6-4.
WIU�€™s Samantha Clark earned the shutout after
recorded two of ORU�€™s shots.
ORU�€™s Mandy Evans (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) started
her first goal in the net in the 2006 season. She recorded six
saves to move to 1-1-0 on the year.
Leti Soto
(Asuncion, Paraguay) and Emily Gagnon (Broken Arrow, Okla.) each
had shots for ORU.
The Golden Eagles
return to action when they host Missouri State in a non-conference
match on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
