NORMAN, Okla.
�€" Oral Roberts University women's soccer team fell
to in-state opponent, Oklahoma University, 3-0 on Sunday night at
John Crain Soccer Field in Norman.
Oklahoma
scored three
goals in the second half en route to defeat the Golden Eagles. The
Sooners capitalized early in the second frame as Savannah Scott
headed a cross from Kady Kelly past ORU's keeper Shelbi Morrison (Claremore,
Okla.).
OU's Christie Smeal netted
their second goal of the night at the 75:11 mark. Ashley Farrard
was credited the assist. The Sooners added another tally with a
little less than two minutes remaining, with Colleen Keester
scoring her first goal of the year. Kelly recorded her second
assist on the night.
ORU's Morrison stopped nine
shots from OU. The Sooners had 32 shots total, 16 in each
frame.
Oklahoma's Jennifer Nichols earned
the shutout with six saves. The Golden Eagles fired off 13 shots on
the night, with six in the first frame and seven in the
second.
ORU's freshman Marrisa Ranberger
(Golden, Colo.) led the squad with two shots on goal.
With the win Oklahoma
improved to 3-5.
The Golden Eagles dropped
to 1-4-2 on the year and will return to action on Friday when they
will travel to conference foe Valparaiso, first kick is 4
p.m.
