TULSA
Emily Gagnon scored the game-winning goal with
2:40 left as Oral Roberts University defeated cross-town rival
Tulsa, 1-0, Tuesday night at the ORU Soccer Complex. ORU moves to
4-4-1 with the win, while TU falls to 2-6-1.
Gagnon
received a pass from Tara Lomas and broke through the Tulsa
defense to score the match's only goal from 15 yards out, giving
the Golden Eagles their fourth home victory of the year.
The match
was scoreless and looked to be going to overtime because both
goalkeepers continue to come up with key saves. ORU's Stef
Gurley recorded seven saves, while facing 19 shots from the
Golden Hurricane.
TU's
goalkeeper Kendall Harclerode stopped four shots with the Golden
Eagles firing off 12 shots total.
In the
match, TU out-shot the Golden Eagles 19-12, but ORU held the edge
in corner kicks 5-4.
Gagnon
recorded three shots, two on-goal, to lead the Golden Eagle attack.
Marissa Ranberger and Lauren
Nievar had two shots each also for ORU.
ORU returns
to action on Friday, traveling to Springfield, Mo. to play Missouri
State. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
