Stef Gurley posted her 17th career shutout to move
into a tie for first on the school's career all-time mark as Oral
Roberts University shutout Centenary 1-0, on Sunday afternoon at
the ORU Soccer Complex.
ORU won their third consecutive match in improving to 6-4-1 and
1-0-1 in league action. With the loss, Centenary fell to 4-7-0 and
0-1-0 in Summit League play.
Natalya Manyan notched for first goal of the season at the 56:53
mark to propel the Golden Eagles to the win. Manyan netted the ball
past CC's goalkeeper Ali Hilsher from 30 yards out for the
unassisted tally.
Gurley and the Golden Eagles posted their third consecutive shutout
victory as head coach Kyle Cussen bested last year's win total
after just 11 matches. ORU finished last season with a 5-9-3
record, including a 1-3-2 conference mark.
The senior goalkeeper recorded six saves to earn her league-leading
fifth shutout of the year.
Manyan and
Emily Gagnon had four shots each to lead the Golden
Eagle attack, while ORU out-shot Centenary 18-9 in the match.
ORU continues league play on Friday, Oct. 5, traveling to
Rochester, Mich. to play Oakland at 3 p.m. central time.
