Lomas (Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada) scored the game-winning goal
in the second overtime to lead the Oral Roberts University women's
soccer team to a 3-2 victory at North Dakota State on Friday
afternoon. The Golden Eagles improved to 4-6-1 overall and 1-1 in
Summit League play, while NDSU dropped to 4-8-2 on the season and
1-2-1 in conference action.
ORU scored early with
Correne Walker (Greater Portmore, Jamaica)
facing one on one with the goalie and striking on the right side to
put the ball in the back of the net at 16:07 and give the Golden
Eagles a 1-0 lead.
NDSU responded 24 minutes later as Laura Wagner scored from the
top of the box to tie up the match at 1-1. The Bison went up 2-0 at
61:27 as Danielle Rolden took a cross from Quin Ryan and sent the
ball sliding past ORU's goalie Amanda
Wheeler (Mission Viejo, Calif.)
The Golden Eagles tied up the match for the second time as Kaycie
Porter (Kingwood, Texas) headed the ball off a free kick from
Lomas at 69:28.
The score remained tied through regulation and the first overtime
before Lomas headed the ball off a cross from
Lorena
Soto (Asuncion, Paraguay) at 102:28.
Wheeler played all 102 minutes for ORU, posting 10 saves in the
win.
The Golden Eagles continue action on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 1 p.m. at
South Dakota State.
