ORU Falls to Western Illinois, 3-1

MACOMB, Ill. – The Oral Roberts University women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Western Illinois on Sunday. The Golden Eagles fell to 5-9-1 overall and 2-5 in Summit League play, while Western Illinois improved to 7-8-2 on the season and 3-4 in conference action.

Ashley Hoch scored the first two goals of the contest to give the Westerwinds the 2-0 halftime advantage. Hoch scored her sixth goal of the year at the 11:15 mark off an assist from Nora Potempa, and notched her seventh score in the 27th minute from Jill Kevorkian.

Five minutes into the second half, Potempa gave Western Illinois a 3-0 lead with a header from Hoch and Keeley Murray.

Maria Grados (Stillwater, Okla.) helped ORU avoid the shutout, converting a penalty kick in the 84th minute for her fifth goal of the season.

Tara Lomas (Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada) and Alison McGuire (Sand Springs, Okla.) led the Golden Eagles with two shots on goal.

The Golden Eagles return home to host IUPUI on Friday at 7 p.m. at the ORU Soccer Complex.
