TULSA –- The Oral Roberts University women's tennis team swept through their matches on Friday by defeating UMKC, 4-0, and Southern Utah, 4-1, at The Grand Racquet Club.

The Golden Eagles defeated UMKC in the morning match by capturing the doubles point and winning three singles matches. Hayden Rush, Rafaela Souza and Anna Costa all won their matches in straight sets. Rush bested Chelsea Horner at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0 while Souza defeated Akshara Reddy, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 3. Costa rounded out singles play with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 5 singles over Holly Davis.

ORU claimed the doubles point by picking up victories at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles.

In the afternoon match, ORU squared off against Southern Utah and beat the Thunderbirds, 4-1.

SUU claimed their only point by capturing the doubles point. In singles play, Rush, Souza and Costa defeated their opponents in straight sets. Taylor Pippen picked up a clutch win at No. 4 singles by rallying past Emmi Nelson-Bulloch, 0-6, 6-4, 6-0.

The Golden Eagles return to the courts tomorrow with a match against Centenary at 2 p.m.
