Ind. -- The top-seeded Oral Roberts University women's tennis team
rallied after losing the doubles point Friday to defeat Western
Illinois in semifinal action of The Summit League Championship at
the Rhonda and Rudy Kachmann Tennis Complex in Fort Wayne, Ind.
In doubles,
Hayden Rush and Anna Costa defeated Kim Lennartsson and Yana
Meinert, 8-3, at the No. 2 spot. But Western Illinois took the
doubles point when Amanda Griffin and Zi Wang posted an 8-2 victory
Emily Arkell and Rafaela Souza at the No. 1 spot, and Ashley Clark
and Kate Kennedy beat Tayler Pippen and Whitney Johnson at the No.
3 spot, 8-2.
Oral Roberts
secured the victory with wins at No. 3, 4, 6 and 5 singles. Souza
defeated Wang, 6-1, 6-4, Pippin beat Clark, 7-5, 6-2, Corrine
Langston defeated Meinert, 7-5, 6-4, and Costa defeated Kennedy,
6-4, 6-2.
The Golden
Eagles will play the winner of the Southern Utah-IPFW match for the
championship on Saturday.
