ORU Falls to No. 19 Oklahoma State, 5-1

TULSA – Oral Roberts University women's soccer team opened the season with a 5-1 loss to No. 19 Oklahoma State on Friday night in front of a capacity crowd at the ORU Soccer Complex. The Golden Eagles dropped to 0-1-0 on the season, while the Cowgirls improved to 2-0-0.

Thirteen minutes into the contest, Oklahoma State All-American Yolanda Odenyo scored on a cross from Kasey Langdon six yards into the box, while Langdon tallied her first goal of the season 1:08 later from Jessica Jarrell to quickly put the Cowgirls ahead 2-0.

The Golden Eagles would bounce back, as senior Natalya Manyan (St. Andrew, Jamaica) scored in traffic from 20 yards out to cut the lead to 2-1 at the 16:22 mark.

The contest remained tight until Oklahoma State put together an offensive barrage to end the half. Katie Richardson posted her second goal of the season at the 41:17 mark on an assist from Kyndall Treadwell, while Treadwell tallied a goal one minute later and added another two minutes later to give the Cowgirls the 5-1 halftime lead.

Oklahoma State would fire 12 shots in the second half, as the Cowgirls outshot ORU by a 29-10 margin.

Freshman Chelsea Widen (Bentonville, Ark.) played the second half in goal for ORU, picking up a save.

Manyan led the squad with four shots, while Kylela Brownhill (Kingston, Jamaica) and Tara Lomas (Pitt Meadows, BC, Canada) each added two.

The Golden Eagles will face Arkansas at 1 p.m. on Sunday in Fayetteville.
