TULSA-Kayla Braffet scored the game's only goal to lead South
Dakota State to a 1-0 Summit League victory over Oral Roberts,
Sunday at ORU Soccer Complex.
South Dakota State improves to 5-4-2 overall and 2-0-0 in Summit
play. ORU suffered its fifth straight defeat, falling to 3-7-0 and
0-2-0.
Braffet scored off a deflected ball just in front of the goal at
48:45. Steph Peterson was credited with the assist after her cross
bounced off an ORU defender and right to Ferguson.
The Golden Eagles had several scoring chances in each half, but
couldn't get the ball past SDSU goal keeper Daniella Pappas, who
recorded seven saves in securing a shutout. ORU keeper Amanda
Wheeler made three saves.
ORU dominated the game from a statistical standpoint, out-shooting
the Jackrabbits 14-6, while having six corner kicks to just two for
SDSU.
Up next for the Golden Eagles is a Summit League battle with
Centenary, 7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 10 at ORU Soccer Complex.
