ORU Women's Tennis Earns Wins over IUPUI, Southern Utah

LAS VEGAS – The Oral Roberts women's tennis team posted wins over IUPUI and Southern Utah on Friday for their first two victories of the season. The Golden Eagles improved to 2-1 in Summit League play.

In doubles play against IUPUI, Tayler Pippin (Sand Springs, Okla.) and Ana Costa (Brazil) routed the Jaguar duo of Sondra Caputo and Karlee Rush by a score of 8-1 at the No. 2 position, while Corrine Langston (Morehead, N.C.) and Ekaterina Kondrashova (Moscow, Russia) won by default at No. 3 doubles to give ORU the early 1-0 advantage.

After a default at No. 6 singles, Pippin swept Rush at the No. 3 position by a score of 6-0, 6-0, while Langston also shut out Kristi Henderson at the No. 5 spot to give ORU the 4-0 victory.

Against Southern Utah, Hayden Rush (Amarillo, Texas) and Rafaela Souza (Brasilia, Brazil) edged the Thunderbird tandem of Kirrily Burden and Martha Kruk by a score of 8-6 at the top spot, while Pippin and Costa downed Emmi Nelson-Bulloch and Carmen Blanco 8-3 at No. 2 doubles for the first point of the contest.

Pippin moved to a perfect 4-0 on the day with a straight sets victory over Kruk at the No. 3 spot, while Costa and Langston won in three sets at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively.

The Golden Eagles wrap up the weekend on Saturday against Centenary.
