ORU Women's Tennis Downs UMKC, 4-1

MACOMB, Ill. – The Oral Roberts University women's tennis team improved to 4-1 in Summit League play this season with a 4-1 victory over UMKC on Friday in Macomb, Ill.

The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 lead after getting wins at the top two doubles positions. Hayden Rush (Amarillo, Texas) and Rafaela Souza (Brasilia, Brazil) defeated UMKC's Emily Lindsay and Chelsea Horner at the top spot by a score of 8-3 to improve to 7-3 overall this season and 4-0 in conference play.

Ana Costa (Brazil) and Tayler Pippin (Sand Springs, Okla.) also remained perfect in doubles play with a 5-0 mark by defeating Katherine Rist and Jessica Ball by a score of 8-4.

ORU posted singles victories at the No. 2, No.3 and No. 4 positions in straight sets to claim the victory. Souza defeated Rist by a score of 7-6(7), 6-2 at the No. 2 spot, while Pippin improved to 4-1 in league play with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Horner at the No. 3 position.

Costa rounded out the ORU scoring with a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Jillian Yakominich at the No. 4 slot. Costa remained undefeated in conference singles play with a 4-0 mark, while improving to a perfect 9-0 record overall this season in the Summit League.

The Golden Eagles play three more conference contests this weekend to wrap up the regular season.
