SHREVEPORT,
La.-Sophomore Whitney
Booth scored a goal and added an assist as Oral Roberts opened
the Summit League portion of its schedule with a 3-1 win at
Centenary on Saturday.
The Golden
Eagles (6-4-0 overall, 1-0-0 Summit) won despite falling behind
early. Centenary (3-7-0, 0-1-0) opened the scoring when Erika
Rautio scored the Ladies' only goal in the 21st minute.
But it was
all ORU after that. Booth tied the game in the 30th minute when she
scored off an assist by freshman Mary-Kate
Halsmer. Two minutes later junior Maria
Grados gave the Golden Eagles a 2-1 lead when she took a pass
from sophomore Lexie
Salas, beat a defender one-on-one and found the back of the
net.
Sophomore Lauren
Parks gave ORU a 3-1 lead when scored her first career goal in
the 55th minute. Parks' goal came off a corner kick by Booth.
ORU
goalkeeper senior Amanda
Wheeler enjoyed a relatively easy game in net, facing just
eight shots (three on-goal) and making two saves. The Golden
Eagles, meanwhile, peppered Centenary keeper Kalyn Harris with 23
shots, including nine on-goal. Harris made six saves.
The Golden
Eagles next face Summit League foe Oakland, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8
at the ORU Soccer Complex.
