LAS VEGAS - The Oral Roberts University women's tennis team fell to
Long Island by a score of 5-2 on Tuesday morning in Las Vegas,
Nev.
The Blackbirds won all three matches in a very competitive doubles
round to take the early 1-0 advantage. ORU's top duo of Lina
Semenova (Minsk, Belarus) and
Tayler Pippin (Sand Springs, Okla.)
dropped a 9-7 decision to Selma Babic and Aleksandra Pavlovic,
while the Golden Eagle tandem of
Ekaterina Kondrashova (Moscow,
Russia) and
Tori Dollar (Waxahachie, Texas) was edged by a score of
9-8(5) at the No. 3 position.
In singles play,
Ana Costa (Brasilia, Brazil) cruised to a 6-2, 6-1
victory over Taysha Blessington at the No. 4 spot, while
Kondrashova posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Stephanie Elie at the No. 5
position.
The Golden Eagles continue play in Las Vegas against UMKC on
Thursday at 9:00 a.m.
