Grados kicks the game winning goal for the Golden Eagles as
they defeat conference foe Western Illinois 2-1 in double overtime
on Saturday afternoon.
Grados game winner came in the
101st minute of double overtime off a Penalty kick that
resulted from a handball in the box by WIU. The goal was her
eighth of the season and second in as many games. Freshman Helen
Erb allowed one goal and collected five saves. ORU improved to
6-8-1 and 3-2 in the Summit League. The win over Western Illinois
has given ORU a six-game home winning streak.
Western Illinois (6-8-0), who fell to 0-5
in Summit League play, took the early first half lead with an
incredible midfield shot that bounced over freshman keeper Helen
Erb's head for a goal in the 9th minute.
The Golden Eagles forged a tie at the end
of regulation with a goal in the 74th minute by junior
Whitney
Booth, giving the Golden Eagles the opportunity to win the game
in overtime.
ORU will be back in action Friday when
they travel to Rochester, Michigan to take on conference arch-rival
Oakland on October 21, at 7 p.m.
