Box Score
TULSA, Okla.-Just two days after
dropping their home opener against Tulsa, The Golden Eagles went on
the road against North Texas and came away with a 2-2 draw in
double-overtime.
The Golden Eagles (0-1-1) struck first
with a goal by Senior
Maria Grados in the 4th minute. Grados goal
was the first of the season for ORU. However, the lead was short
lived, as North Texas (0-0-1) answered back with a strike from 40
yards out in the 10th minute, and again in the 31st minute.
Down 2-1 with less than 10 minutes to
play in regulation, Senior Anna Bickers sent home the equalizer off
a free kick from Grados. The remainder of the game would be a
defensive struggle, and two overtime periods would not be enough to
decide the winner; the game ended in a draw.
North Texas outshot the Golden Eagles
24-10. ORU Keeper
Amanda Wheeler came out of the match at halftime
and was replaced by freshman
Helen Erb, who finished the game and
picked up five saves.
The Golden Eagles will seek their first
win of the season against Sam Houston State at home on Friday,
August 26 at 7:00 p.m.
