TULSA, Okla.-The Golden Eagles fell to
the Kansas Jayhawks on Sunday afternoon 6-1.
The Golden Eagles (4-6-1) were led by
sophomore Whitney
Booth, who scored the only goal of the afternoon for ORU.
Freshman Shelbi
Lousch collected the assist. Freshman Helen
Erb got the start in goal for the Golden Eagles, she recorded
seven saves and allowed six goals on the day. ORU managed just
five shots, while Kansas peppered the goal with 25.
Behind two goals and an assist from
freshman Ingrid Vidal, Kansas (7-4-0) ended their two game losing
streak. Freshman Kaitlyn Stroud played started for Kansas; she
allowed one goal and recorded two saves.
The first half belonged to Kansas as
they scored first in the 8th minute of the match off a corner kick
from sophomore Amy Grow. Kansas took a 3-0 halftime lead after a
goal by Vidal in the 12th minute and junior Whitney Berry in the
17th minute.
The Second half continued to go the
Jayhawks way with another goal from Vidal in the 58th minute, her
eighth of the season. Freshman Jamie Fletcher scored her fifth goal
of the season in the 68th minute to make it 5-0, before Booth got
ORU on the board with her first of the year in the 75th minute.
Sophomore Shannon Renner ended the day with a goal in the 86th
minute to make it 6-1.
ORU will continue their conference
schedule with a match against South Dakota State on September
30.
