TULSA, Okla. - Tori Dollar
notched the lone point of the evening for Oral Roberts
University on Friday night as the Golden Eagles fell to Oklahoma
State University, 6-1. ORU is now 1-2 on the season.
Dollar's point came at No. 6 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over
Leyla Simmons.
Though they dropped the doubles point, ORU did earn a win at the
third position, with Marizanne Bouwer and Rachel Scroggs doubling up Simmons and Allison
Burckhartt, 8-4.
The Cowgirls (1-0) won the doubles point by taking the top two
flights. Mary Jeremiah and Meghan Blevins won the No. 1 match, 9-7,
over Lina Semenova and Hailey Martin, and the second
position went to C.C. Sardinha and Isabela Miro, 8-3, over Dollar
and Kirstin Gray.
In top flight singles, Malika Rose swept Iryna Khatsko, 6-1, 6-3. Sardinha won the second
spot, 6-2, 6-0 over Martin, and Belvins earned the No. 3 victory,
6-3, 6-2 over Semenova.
Jeremiah dropped Gray at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1 while Miro
outlasted Bouwer in the fifth spot by a 7-5, 6-1 count.
Chris Milliron's club returns to the court on
Saturday afternoon, when they face Wichita State on the road. First
serve is at 3 pm CT.
