INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -
Oral Roberts University dominated the court on Thursday morning,
sweeping Western Illinois University, 6-0, at North Central High
School in Indianapolis as part of this week's Summit League
cluster.
The Golden Eagles are now 8-5 (5-0 Summit League). Three more wins
this week in Indianapolis will give Chris Milliron's team their first Summit League
regular season title since 2008.
ORU did not concede a single set on Thursday, holding the
Leathernecks to zeros in all six completed matches.
The domination started on the doubles courts, where Haley Martin
and Lina Semenova took a top flight victory over Jessica
Callahan and Juliette Schwartz by an 8-0 count. Iryna Khatsko and Kristin Gray won by the same score over Jessica
Theobald and Megan Pazdernick.
In singles, Khatsko opened the scoring account with a 6-0, 6-0 win
over Ashley Rettger at the No. 1 spot. Semenova won at the second
court over Callahan in 6-0, 6-0 fashion, and Martin won by the same
score at No. 3 over Theobald.
Gray dropped Pazdernick on the fourth court to continue the rout,
and Tori Dollar won by default on the sixth court when
the Leathernecks failed to produce a sixth player.
One match was halted in progress on the fifth court, where Marizanne Bouwer held a lead over Schwartz when play
was stopped.
ORU will continue their march to a Summit League title on Friday,
when they face IUPUI at 9 am ET.
